Concept

Commissioned for Leopardi's 200th anniversary of "L'Infinito," this chamber work takes its title from the poet's diary: "His amusement was to count the stars." Written for bass clarinet, electric guitar, piano, and cello—baroque continuo meets electric modernity—the piece mirrors Leopardi's oscillation between cosmic contemplation and intimate scale.

From darkness, bright but distant stars emerge in clear sky, drawing constellation geometry. The score operates as sonic star chart, mapping isolated events across temporal space.

Extended silences punctuated by luminous gestures. Each note functions as point of light, isolated yet geometrically connected through invisible lines of temporal and harmonic relationship. The listener becomes astronomer, constructing constellations from scattered acoustic phenomena. Music simultaneously rigorous and whimsical, mathematically structured and emotionally immediate.
