Concept

Die Monsterfabrik explores progressive transformation of Vivaldi's string music through iterative artificial intelligence training. Created for "Artificial Intelligence in the Digital, Creative Space" organized by Hamburg Open Online University and hosted by Ligeti Zentrum, the work investigates how machine learning models progressively alienate source material.

The title alludes to progressive alienation and distortion—factory that manufactures "sound monsters" retaining only faint, barely recognizable traces of baroque progenitor.

Each training cycle produces models generating results increasingly distant from original. This alienation achieved through recursive process: synthetic material generated from previous models becomes training data for subsequent cycles. The neural network consumes its own output, creating feedback loop distorting and transforming musical DNA with each iteration. As AI digests and regurgitates Vivaldi's structures, it creates something simultaneously familiar and alien—baroque ghosts haunting contemporary computational processes.
